At a glance

The four numbers that hit you first.

Per-ticket fees are only half the story. The other half is whether the tools you actually need cost extra per month, and how many tiers stand between you and them.

Eventbrite's tier structure

Seven plans. One real ceiling.

Eventbrite's pricing is structured around how many paid registrations you sell per month. The free plan is real but limited. The "Pro" tiers (100, 250, 1K, 2.5K, 5K, 10K) ladder up the monthly fee in exchange for higher included ticket counts and a few extra tools at the top. BuzzHive collapses this entire ladder into one free tier with everything unlocked.

Eventbrite also offers Premium (custom enterprise pricing) and Pro 2.5K / 5K tiers between the ones shown. The pattern is the same: more monthly cost, more paid-ticket headroom, a few extra tools at the top. The per-ticket cut stays roughly the same across all paid tiers.

The fee math

On a $25 ticket: who keeps what.

Stripe processing applied uniformly (2.9% + $0.30). Numbers below are what a single ticket actually nets the promoter after every fee.

The honest take

When each one actually makes sense.

We're not going to pretend Eventbrite is the villain. They have real strengths. They also have real costs. Here's how we'd think about it.

Eventbrite makes sense if…

You're throwing a multi-thousand-person festival and need their marketplace discovery — Eventbrite's homepage and search engine drive a meaningful chunk of cold traffic if your event genre matches their browse audience.

You want a name buyers already trust at checkout. For an audience that's never heard of you, the Eventbrite logo can lift conversion 1-3 points.

You need reserved seating with seat maps. BuzzHive is GA-only by design (clubs, warehouses, festivals). If you sell rows + sections, Eventbrite handles that and we don't.

BuzzHive makes sense if…

You're an underground promoter, DJ, producer, collective, or venue running events for an audience you already have or want to build on your own terms.

You want the buyer list to be yours, exportable anytime, not held hostage behind a paid tier.

You want the per-ticket math to be fair — $0.99 + 2% is meaningfully less than Eventbrite's 3.7% + $1.79, and that gap compounds across every show you run.

You want the whole product on day one — waitlist, geo analytics, AI copy gen, door scanner, co-promoter splits, artist contracts, all of it — without picking a tier.
